Here's an illustration for an advertising pitch with the shortest deadline ever... the agency got in touch yesterday afters and I had to deliver it lunchtime today.
They went with another illustrator for the campaign. Bah!
Thanks Lil Kim. They said they loved the style, but one of the others suited the look they wanted more. I'd love to have seen my furry characters bouncing around on TV!
So many people only see the upside of being an illustrator/ designer but deadlines can be so unrealistic. I remember asking a client when he needed the art his quote "Yesterday in Korea".
Hi there! I'm an illustrator and children's book author from the UK. Since graduating from Cambridge School of Art in 2005 with a degree in Illustration and a Masters in Children's Book Illustration, I've worked mainly for kid's book publishers - but I sometimes do advertising and editorial work too. My first picture book, 'Billy Back-To-Front' was published by Hodder Children's Books in 2006 and I've also illustrated children's books by Julia Donaldson and Ian Whybrow.
You can read a proper bio at www.sammccullen.com.
Hope you enjoy the piccies!
